Happy School Year's Eve!

Twas the night before preschool,
and as they prepared,
the kids were excited
and a little bit scared.

They tossed and they turned
about in their beds
while visions of school supplies
danced in their heads.

Brand-new backpacks
they got at the store
were ready to go
and by the front door.

Outfits were hung
in the closets with care
knowing that preschool
soon would be there.

What would it be like?
What would they play?
Would the teacher be nice?
Would it last all day?

Would they make a new friend?
Would they like the snack?
What if my parents
never came back?

In the morning it came –
Preschool starts today!
Kids posed for pictures
and got on their way.

The parents were worried
their children would cry
if they left them at school
with just a good-bye.

But there in the door
was a smiling face.
The teacher was ready
with a hug, just in case.

The children all waved
from the door of the school.
“Don’t cry, Mom and Dad;
Preschool is cool!”

Let's go!
A new school year full of fun and play is about to begin!
